Triodia references
Triodia, one of the 3 genera in the
tribe Triodieaea which includes
Symplectrodia and Monodia. There are 65 described species (Lazarides
1997) with several
currently waiting to be described and one under review. The
majority of species are described as hummocks due to the branching
structure and erect hard leaves. Although there are some tussock
forming species in the north-west, T. acutispicula, T. sp.nov.(aff.
acutispicula).

T. sp.nov.(aff. acutispicula) from
the central Kimberley in Western Australia
This species is interesting in that the middle and upper florets do not
develop
normally. Only the awns grow and the lower 5 or 6 expand creating the
star
shape shown above.
